In 2019, The Stampede Trail & some very special friends worked tirelessly to organise three (3) film premiere events in NSW, VIC & TAS to raise much needed funds & support of women’s shelters & domestic violence support services.
This Could Be Anywhere in the World is a narrative short film that places the audience behind closed doors, as it exposes the psychological impact of domestic abuse.
The project grew out of a desire to understand why victims of domestic abuse – mainly women – choose to stay with their abusive partner; and, more often than not, place their children at the risk of being abused as well. With my creative voice, I desired to shine a light on the dark reality that the misuse of power and control creates within the family unit, to inspire courage & to highlight that children in domestic abuse households are the innocent victims. Then, with this work, I wanted to offer my wholehearted support to those in need, globally.
With each individual event, we will raise awareness and support for a local women’s shelter &/or domestic violence support service; evoke and inspire change within the DV landscape by bringing women’s empowerment and self-worth to the forefront; and to nurture and cultivate the beauty and power in bringing a community together to support those in need.
For guests – I want people who want to do good to feel good about that – to know that their time, money & kindness are making a real difference to real people’s lives. I want guests to feel inspired that their love & support has truly made a difference to their local community.
The Golden Age Cinema & Bar, NSW
The inaugural premiere was as sold-out event at The Golden Age Cinema, in the wonderful Paramount Building, in Sydney. Melbourne then followed at the uber-cool Loop Project Space & Bar. Tasmania – WOW – Launceston really bonded together! A huge thank you to the legends at Tramsheds Convention Centre for allowing us to showcase the event in such a glorious venue, our charity partners, the businesses that supported the silent auction, Luca Brasi for the music & the legends who banded together to make this event a truly magical evening that I will never forget.
For all events, we recruited local businesses and artists to provide items for the silent auction – a list as long as two arms. All items sold with both artists & businesses advocating for the This Could Be Anywhere in the World Global Film Initiative* & our charity partner.
TCBAITW – Launceston
We would not have spent the time & effort on these events if it wasn’t for the ability to support charities in each state that are on the frontline supporting women & families of domestic abuse. In support of Women’s Community Shelters (NSW), Safe Steps (VIC) & Magnolia Place & Karinya Young Women’s Shelter (TAS) we were able to raise thousands of dollars for women & families in need.
It was our absolute pleasure to do what we could for their amazing contribution to our wider community… and for the families in need.
Thank you, to all, from the middle of my heart.
Due to the current COVID-19 crisis, it was decided to halt the TCBAITW GFI and distribute the funds raised at these three 3) events to the charities at this crucial time of financial need.
Perhaps it may continue in 2021… we shall see.
Love to all x
